The Problem We’re Facing
- Increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity among Canadian children
- 7 out of 10 children eat fewer than 5 servings of vegetables and fruit each day
- Children’s eating habits are formed during preschool years
For the first time in recorded history, this generation of children is projected to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. That’s scary. The story of how we got here is complex, but one thing that’s clear is that how we EAT has a major impact on our health and wellbeing.
Our relationship with food has changed.
We’re bombarded with “nutrition” information and “food products”, yet people are confused about what to eat, and not doing a very good job with it. When did feeding ourselves become so complicated?
Over the next few months we’ll be recording the impact of Rainbow Plate programming to address these problems. Please check back with us regularly for our findings.
